REVIEW:BIG ZERO have a message for you from their synth-punk world!

And it originated in the past.

BIG ZERO’s track ‘Tear It Up and Start Again’ is an attitude filled punchy guitar/synth song that conjures the electronic magic of the 80’s but still feels like a new sound using their modern take on the world.

The ZERO’s clearly take a lot of inspiration from the era as the video for the track uses the legendary cult film ‘The Breakfast Club’ originally released in 1985, as their set up.

Watch it here:

‘Tear It Up and Start Again’ comes from the bands EP ‘Mainstream Propaganda’ which, as you can tell, dips into BIG ZERO’s take on our society of dictated media as well as thoughts about the future of our relationship with technology.

BIG ZERO’s view is, “every day humans get closer to technological singularity, and we strongly believe that when that day comes, we will be judged on our ethical treatment and moral judgement when it came to how we developed robotic technology.” The guys certainly aren’t completely stuck in the 80s then…

“Mainstream Propaganda” is due for release May 20th 2016

ilfracombe rocks 2015 025

Having grown over the years, Ilfracombe Rocks will accommodate up to 1500 music lovers this November. The three-day event is held from 4th-6th November 2016. Brought to life by iconic radio presenter DJ John Forster, known for hosting the number one unsigned rock music show on the net called ‘Dr. John’s Unsigned Rock Surgery’ on Rockbandom Radio, this event is a true gem for admirers of handmade sonic bliss. Located in John Fowler’s Holiday Park in Devon the annual celebration of gritty guitars and amplified solos is a perfect way to spend a rock’n’roll weekend not only for hardcore bikers in leather jackets, but for the whole family!

This year’s headliners are some of the most excellent tribute bands in the scene. Thunderstruck, The ZZtops and Higher on Maiden will be bringing back the days of rock revolution. While there’s certainly a whiff of nostalgia in the air, the festival is also host to some of Europe’s finest new unsigned rock bands. This is a brilliant way to get to listen to potential stars on the rise and the stadium fillers of tomorrow!

Dr. John’s motto is simple – the DJ wants to promote good quality music and says: “the unsigned scene is possibly the most under-listened aspect of rock music. In many cases it is far superior to the mainstream and more honest. Many of them don’t get anywhere near the airplay and exposure they deserve.” That is why he decided to extend his work at the radio and give emerging artists an additional platform to get heard.

“Halfway Home” – New album by Bad Touch

Wise Water, the lead track from Bad touches new album, “Half Way Home”, blends together elements of classic, 80’s rock with blues licks to create a powerhouse of melodic rock, and the rest of the album shows the band’s true talent as well. With Led Zeppelin, Black Crowes and Rival Sons amongst their influences, they are a band who love to turn up the volume, but also infuse their songs with subtlety and melody

The album has been a long time coming for Bad Touch as it’s been 5 years since their inception. Having started with cover songs, their set has evolved into their own material. Which they have taken the time to hone and mould into their own style. Patiently working on their own material before launching into a debut album, the result is truly impressive.

It comes as little surprise that a band of this quality has already impressed on the live circuit having played slots at Download Festival, Hard Rock Hell, Steelhouse Festival and Legends of Rock. This is great going for any band, let alone one who are yet to put out a full album.

Pic 11Most impressive of all, in 2013 Bad Touch competed against over 400 bands from around the world in the Marshall Ultimate Band Contest, and came out on top. Winning the global competition set them on the course that would lead to their new album, and the final culmination of their hard graft will be available from April 27th.

In the meantime, they will be gigging as much as possible to spread the word, with a pre-release tour in the works. This is a live act you don’t want to miss – check the tour dates below to see if you’re lucky enough to have them come to your city.
